NITK Surathkal

  1. Some of the labs requires the users to install the Pre-requisites. Click here to view Pre-requisites
  2. In order to derive maximum learning experience, the users are advised to first read the instructions for conduction the labs. There are' step-by-step' instructions available in each lab to assist the users.
  3. Some of the labs require the users to log in first. Eventually, there will be a common login for labs.
  4. Related NPTEL lectures are also available on the link given below.

*Unit Operation, Reaction Engg. & Process Control

This lab defines how the chemical reactions are prepared and the various flow through pipes, fittings, orifice meter, Venturi meter are working.

*Strength of Materials

Strength of material is the body of knowledge which deals with the relation between internal forces, deformations and external loads etc. This laboratory provides the basic knowledge of strength of materials and here, the students can perform different tests on different materials.

*Industrial Electric Drives

This lab introduces us with Programmable Logic Controllers and Digital I/O interface to PLCs as well as introduces us with Ladder Logic.

*Machine Dynamics and Mechanical Vibrations

This lab decribes the free vibration of cantilever beam: simply supported beam fixed beam: and Forced vibration of SDOF system, 2DOF Forced vibration, Dynamic Vibration Absorber.

*Substation Automation

A substation is a part of an electrical generation, transmission and distribution system. The assembly of apparatus used to change some characteristics (e.g. voltage, frequency, p.f., A.C. to D.C. etc.) of an electrical supply is called a substation.

Mechanics of machine

This lab describes about the various position analysis and velocity analysis of Grashof four bar mechanism, Slider crank mechanism, Scotch Yoke Mechanism, Elliptical Trammel.

Fluid Mechanics

Fluid mechanics is the branch of physics that deals with the study of all fluids under static and dynamic situations. Fluid mechanics can be divided into fluid statics, the study of fluids at rest; and fluid dynamics, the study of the effect of forces on fluid motion.

Remote Triggered Vibration Lab

This virtual lab offers the users with a set of experiments which when conducted will help the user to study free and forced vibrations in various types of systems. The user will be able to understand how a system responds to given inputs and will be able to calculate various system parameters based on which critical decision about operating the machinery can be taken.

Fluid Machinery Lab

This lab focuses on giving the user an idea about practical behaviour of such machines before performing operations on a real system
